Aurora, IL (September 19, 2013) JB Industries, a leading US manufacturer of HVAC/R tools and equipment, is proud to announce that its PROWLER LD-5000 Refrigerant Leak Detector has been certified by an accredited independent test laboratory to comply with the new ASHRAE Halocarbon Refrigerant Leak Detector Standard 173-2012.
The PROWLER was certified at a leak rate of less than one gram per year under static test conditions. It was also certified at a leak rate of 4.0 grams per year within a monitored background environment of 500 parts per million of refrigerant contamination.
The new Standard was published by ASHRAE to provide a method of testing and qualifying the performance of portable leak detectors designed for the detection of all HCFC, HFC, HFO, CFC, and PFC halogenated refrigerant gasses.
The PROWLER is also certified to comply with the new European leak detector Standard EN 14624:2012 as well as the SAE Standards J2913, J2971, and J1627.
